THANK YOU for any support!
I’ve had this idea that’s carried me far
With promise to find happiness and peace of mind
It’s all I need
I have been waiting just to feel desired
Or to finally decide that I’m
In the wrong place
An uncertainty there may always be
In your eyes - In me
Just serves to show we’ve still so much to see
But you still don’t know
And you just don’t see me in your life
My one idea says there you are
On my mind, with one of your own kind
So what are we?
As you are fading in and out of sleep
I struggle just to keep
From kissing your face
Such certainty I may never find
On your lips - On mine
When you sing to me, your voice melts in my ears
For all these years
I’ve kept you here in mine when I sing:
“Embrace the moment - Live today
Follow your heart, come what may”
I’ve told myself, “If something or someone else
Comes my way, I will entertain
A change of plans,” so here I am
This one idea may be
A philosophy for the blind and naïve
But you’re not as stubborn or as easily deceived
As me
Our time is waning and I want to stay
Though I know exactly what you’ll say:
“Give me space”
An uncertainty I may always be
Under you - Over me
Soaring on high, you’re a bird without legs
Afraid of heights
I’m just a fool who begs for you to land
“Please land... Please land... Please land...”
The story behind "One Idea" and the semi-acoustic EP:
"'One Idea' was originally written with just an acoustic guitar and voice. It gradually developed, over years, into the full-electric arrangement we recorded for 'Motion Canvas.' The original, 'semi-acoustic' version, recorded in February of 2009, was initially only released on a small-run compilation album to benefit a local charity. Having never been 'properly' released, despite its popularity among friends and fans, we decided to honor this 'classic' arrangement of 'One Idea' by recording some of our favorite acoustic adaptations of other songs, and releasing them together as a bonus EP for the expanded version of 'Motion Canvas.'
Having experimented with acoustic renditions for most of our songs over the years, we selected only those that we felt had the most interesting arrangements, in contrast with their origins. We also attempted to accentuate the 'unplugged' quality by recording them mostly-live in the studio. The resulting collection is sort of the complement to 'Motion Canvas,' which turned out to be significantly more energetic and aggressive than our debut. We've had a lot of fun re-exploring these songs, and I'm glad we've found a way to share them."
